Plans for new £50m development scheme in Plymouth revealed

A property investment company has revealed a very interesting vision for Plymouth’s West End and eastern area of the city, a news report in the local media has recently revealed.

British Land wants to transform the Bretonside bus station with a major leisure development that, if approved, would feature a 12-screen cinema, 13 restaurants, 400 car parking spaces and extensive improvements to public areas, improving links from the city centre to the Barbican and the waterfront.

A new Mayflower Coach Station with a waiting room, a booking office, toilets and parking would also be constructed on the site of the soon-to-be-demolished Mayflower West car park in the West End.

Further improvements would include an innovation centre that would be established in one of the vacant buildings overlooking the site, while the Taylor Maxwell House project – a joint venture between the local authority and Plymouth University – would provide a home for start-ups run by graduates.
