New housing development planned for Bournemouth car park

The Bournemouth Development Company has submitted extensive plans for building 100 new houses on the site of the Berry Court car park, a news report in the local media has recently revealed.

The proposals put forward also include up to 155 spaces for public car parking within a small multi-storey. This means that existing car parking spaces will not be lost.

The Bournemouth Development Company is a joint venture between the council and Morgan Sindall Investments. Representatives revealed that the houses would be developed under a private rented model, meaning they will be put to the private rental market, a model being encouraged by the government’s Homes and Communities Agency.

Council leader John Beesley said: "With the addition of Berry Court, we are entering the next exciting phase of development which will mean we can accelerate our delivery of new homes in Bournemouth. These are urgently needed, but we will not lose public parking which is so vital to the town’s economy and for workers in the area."
