Outsourcing company bags £33m NHS facilities management contract
A hospital trust in Surrey has awarded outsourcing company Mitie a £33m facilities management contract for an initial five years, with the possibility of a further 2-year extension, a news report in the local business media could recently reveal.
The Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust has selected Mitie to deliver a range of services including domestic cleaning, helpdesk services and porter duties at Epsom Hospital.
It will also supply patient catering, retail catering and ward hostess services at both Epsom Hospital and St Helier Hospital.
Rob Cattell, managing director of Mitie’s Environmental + business, said: "This is a fantastic development for our business, and further expands our capability to deliver a full range of hospital services to a major acute trust.
"We are looking forward to working with Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust to continually improve patients’ experiences by upholding the trust’s commitment to maintaining clean, safe environments for patients, residents, staff and visitors alike."
Managing their sub-contractors’ activity can prove to be a difficult task at times, for any outsourcing firm, so companies planning to extend their activity and possibly adding extra members of staff as a result should also seriously consider implementing a very solid workforce management solution.
