Student property developer secures planning permission for Coventry project

A Bristol-based student property developer has managed to secure the required planning consent for a new 2.1 site in central Coventry, a recent news report in the local media has been able to reveal.

The £17m development, acquired in January 2015, will provide accommodation for 286 students and is scheduled to open for the 2016/17 academic year.

The property will be located adjacent to another Unite site near Coventry University, which it opened in 2007. When complete, the group will manage a 1,000-strong student complex in the area.

Richard Simpson, managing director of property for Unite, said: "We are delighted to have received planning consent in Coventry, as we continue to progress our regional development pipeline.

"Achieving planning through delegated decision reflects the confidence Coventry has in Unite and will enable us to continue supporting the University by providing a safe, secure home for the city’s growing student population."
