Retail developments in Cornwall set for approval
A set of twin retail developments in Hayle, Cornwall, each offering around 160,000 sq ft of floorspace, are recommended for approval by the Cornwall Council planning comission, a recent news report in the local business media has been able to reveal.
Developer Cranford (Hayle) LLP, has submitted plans for a 160,000 sq ft development (pictured) featuring ten units sized from 3,000 sq ft to 25,400 sq ft.
The plans comprise two restaurants/cafés and eight fashion-led shops along with 530 car parking spaces.
The developers estimate that it would include a £35m investment in Hayle and provide 579 full-time jobs, as well as a further 373 during construction.
Plans have also been submitted for a "similar and competing" development on the Hayle Rugby Club site. Applicant Hayle Community Rugby Facilities Ltd comprises 168,000 sq ft of floorspace featuring a mix of retail and café/restaurant units.
It has been estimated that the plans would provide a £30m investment into Hayle and create up to 1,000 jobs. If the plans are approved, the rugby club would relocate to a site in the North East of Hayle which has previously been granted consent for a sports facility.
