New retail park in Newquay set to receive planning permission
Plans for a mixed-use scheme featuring retail, food and drink, restaurant and hotel facilities are set to be given the green light by Cornwall councillors, a recent news report in the local business media has been able to reveal.
Kingsley Developments International and CPG Projects Developments have submitted an application for the scheme on a 10.6-acre block of agricultural land at Trevithick Manor Farm.
The site is located adjacent to a development of 350 homes currently under construction by Persimmon.
The mixed-use development would comprise a total of 127,000 sq ft of space including nine retail units, two bakery/sandwich shops, two drive-thru restaurants and a 150-cover pub or restaurant. A 60-bed hotel is also included.
Prospective tenants include Greggs and Subway for the bakery units, and Starbucks and KFC for the drive-thru facilities. Likely retail occupiers include Iceland, Poundworld, Pets at Home, Sports Direct and B&M.
A total of 359 parking spaces would be included across the scheme.
It is expected that the development would support the creation of 320 full time jobs, however, the council’s retail consultant Bilfinger GVA has suggested that some may also be lost in the town centre.
A development of this size is likely to involve numerous contractors working on the site, so companies that decide to get involved should also consider the implementation of a solid and reliable workforce management system, and this is exactly where Time & Attendance South West can help.
