Plans put forward for office development set to create up to 500 new jobs
A property investor has submitted plans for an office development in Cheltenham which could support the creation of up to 500 jobs, a news report in the local media has been able to suggest.
Formal Investments’ scheme comprises more than 80,000 sq ft of office space which is envisaged would become the new headquarters for a major international business keen to relocate to the town.
Subject to the plans receiving permission, construction could begin in 2017 with the occupier moving to Cheltenham in 2019.
Previous plans for the six-storey property have been revised in this new application to suit the requirements with office space boosted by 20 per cent and the residential element removed.
Jeremy Williamson, managing director of Cheltenham Development Taskforce, added: "It is always pleasing to bring forward a brown field site, but even more so when it has such job creation potential and is promoted by local investors such as Formal Investments.
"Attracting a major international player was the icing on the cake and demonstrated the continuing attractiveness of Cheltenham."
