Plans to build 800 new homes near Newquay set for approval
Plans for a new mixed-used development that includes a total of 800 new homes, commercial space and a new convenience store as part of the expansion of Newquay are set to be approved in the near future, a recent news report in the local media has been able to suggest.
Hautot Developments has submitted an outline application for a 69.2-acre site at Chapel Gover in the Newquay Growth Area.
The proposals include the construction of up to 800 houses together with two local centres measuring a combined 13,000 sq ft. These would be suitable for a variety of commercial uses and include a new convenience store.
A new junction would also be created off the Newquay Strategic Route to form principal site access.
The Newquay Growth Area comprises almost 500 acres of land identified for mixed-use development, including about 3,800 houses.
A report prepared ahead of the meeting said the development would "provide a choice of homes by including a mix of house types to address identified needs and market demand and to support mixed communities".
It added: "The proposal would encourage multiple benefits for the proposed use of land including a green infrastructure led masterplan creating public open space to perform wildlife and flood risk mitigation functions; new local centres; access opportunities including advancing progress on construction of the Newquay Strategic Route."
A development of this size is likely to involve numerous contractors working on the site, so companies that decide to get involved should also consider the implementation of a solid and reliable workforce management system, and this is exactly where Time & Attendance South West can help.
