Construction work starts on new £6.5m tech incubator at Falmouth University
Construction work is set to start soon on a £6.5m building at Falmouth University that will help incubate new spin-out technology companies, a recent news report in the local business media has been able to suggest.
The new premises, known as the Launchpad, is located on the university’s Penryn Campus and is due to complete in summer 2018, ready for occupation in September next year. It will be home to business entrepreneurship graduates and postgraduates in a studio workspace environment.
The project also includes an innovative building linking Launchpad with the Academy of Innovation and Research (AIR) building, and which will form the main entrance to both.
Neil Sansum, architect director from BDP’s Bristol office, said: "It’s important that the design of the new building supports the nature of the activities that will take place inside it. Our aim was also to create a space which encourages interaction and allows for frequent changes in layout. It’s an exciting space which places forward-thinking design at its heart."
