39 new affordable properties set to be built in Bristol under 2 new development schemes

Property developers Knightstone Housing and Lovell have joined forces in order to work on two new housing developments in Bristol that will see 39 new affordable properties for rent become available.

As a news report on this matter reveals, the first site is actually on the location of the former elderly persons’ home Gleeson, at Goffenton Drive in Oldbury. This £2.3m development will include 19 houses and six flats and is set for completion in May 2014.

The second scheme is a £1.4m development of ten houses and four flats at Birchwood Road in Brislington on the site of the former Birchwood elderly persons’ home, and should be finished in May 2014.

Funding for the two schemes has come from the Homes and Communities Agency, Bristol City Council and private finance raised by Knightstone.

Mike Day, director of development and home ownership at Knightstone, said: "We’re delighted to be involved in the regeneration of two brownfield sites in Bristol, and to be assisting with the ongoing delivery of the council’s affordable housing programme." Lovell regional director David Gough added: "These two schemes will provide much-needed high quality modern homes for rent for local residents."
