Automatic shift pattern system activates breaks between set times
Thirty-two workers at a Penzance factory are fearful for their jobs as the government may close it. One of the Remploy staff at the disabled workers facility in Cornwall summed up the shock Colin Gray, who is also the Penzance plant health and safety officer, said: “The trouble is, being disabled, for a lot of these people, their only social contact is coming to work.” He added: “They will just fade away, just fade into the background.”
Cutting edge technology from Time and Attendance Southern automatically sets working rules and shift patterns in a factory. Work patterns are a combination of daily rules that are either a repeating pattern of shifts or a list of alternative rules. The system will predict the most appropriate shift depending on when an employee starts work. Each type of pattern can be set up to override the normal pattern and use a specific shift on public holidays. You can also enable breaks to activate between set times.
