The move from double to single day shifts is taking place at Car Plant Two on the site at South Marston. A voluntary redundancy programme opened last week and car plant owners Honda said there had been a “positive response”. The company, which started constructing cars in Swindon in 1992, blamed falling sales across Europe for the drop in demand.

If your firm or factory is changing its shift patterns and hours of work, it can be simply done using an integrated Time & Attendance South West clocking network. A number of basic rules control how hours are calculated. These include settings to separate ‘worked time’ in order to handle night shift working and inserting unpaid breaks if employees do not clock them. You can also enable breaks to activate between set times, and / or after a minimum number of hours have been worked.
