Employees and customers were evacuated after Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to Regent Street at about 9am. A fire service spokesman said the leak happened when workmen accidentally cut through a gas mains cable outside Burger King. The shops have since been reopened after gas engineers from Transco and Wiltshire police all attended.

Time and Attendance South West’s clocking and building access products can be integrated with fire roll call software that will automatically generate a report in the event of a gas leak or a fire. In any emergency situation, your immediate fire roll call reports are generated containing the crucial information concerning who is on site. Employees simply log themselves on and off site using either a smart card or key fob. An evacuation list is then printed at a safe pre-determined remote point off the premises.
