Jobs at risk at Poole-based manufacturer


Around 100 employees are in danger of being made redundant at a Pooled-based printed circuit heat exchanger manufacturer, a recent news report in the local business media has been able to find.

Heatric, which is part of business of engineering and defence giant Meggitt, began consultation and redundancy processes earlier this week. The firm said it would seek to achieve some headcount reduction through voluntary redundancy and early retirement but it was "inevitable that there will be a significant number of enforced redundancies".

It added that the deferral of customer investments in oil and gas projects has necessitated restructuring of the business.

Adrian Tattersall, Heatric’s general manager, said: "Heatric’s technology is outstanding and our products are the best of their kind for the oil and gas market and emerging technology applications. During the last six months, however, our core markets have continued to deteriorate and order intake has declined further.

"Despite the best efforts of everyone in the business to avoid job losses during that time, we now have no choice but to restructure to preserve our business for the long-term."
