Plans for extensive mixed-used development near Chippenham set for approval


Plans for a development located near Chippenham and comprising up to 700 houses, as well as a new primary school and employment space, are likely to receive planning permission in the near future, a recent news report in the local media has been able to suggest.

The application for a site at Rawlings Farm on the outskirts of Chippenham includes proposal for the construction of 700 homes, 11.1 acres of mixed-use employment space and a new primary school.

It has been estimated that the development could support the creation of about 530 jobs while up to 40 per cent of the residential units would be affordable housing.

A small local centre featuring about 6,500 sq ft of retail space and a 32,000 sq ft care home would be created as well as up to 24.7 acres of public open space.

The Rawlings Green site currently comprises a 126 acres of farmland and is earmarked for development as part of the draft Chippenham Site Allocations Plan.

A report prepared ahead of the meeting has recommended that councillors grant planning permission, subject to the completion of a section 106 legal agreement.
