Plans put forward for new distribution hub on a 79-acre site to the north of Chippenham

Plans for a new distribution hub on a 79-acre site to the north of Chippenham, known as Chippenham Gateway, have been submitted to the relevant local authorities, a news report in the local business media has been able to suggest.

Developer St Modwen said the development will create a hub for sizeable logistics companies serving the South West, West Country and South Wales from a centralised location.

It could also help attract significant inward investment for Chippenham and support the creation of about 700 jobs in the area.

Mark Thorne, planning manager for St Modwen, said: "The M4 corridor is the ideal location for distribution companies to expand and grow their operations and strong market demand for good quality commercial, distribution and logistics space is accelerating our speculative building programme across the South West this year."
