Plans put forward for new housing estate near Salisbury

Plans for building up to 50 houses in a village on the outskirts of Salisbury has been lodged by the Earl of Radnor’s estate, a news report in the local media has been able to suggest.

The Longford Estates wants to construct the properties on a seven-acre site off Firs Road in Alderbury. The land is currently used by Alderbury FC as their training facility, but the club are planning to relocate to adjacent land north east of the site.

The outline application includes an agreement to fund the development of a new pre-school building within the grounds of the adjacent primary school. An element of affordable housing will also be provided within the scheme in a series of clusters.

A planning statement prepared by Pegasus Urban Design called for the application to be approved as it will provide a range of social, economic and environmental benefits.

The applicant forms part of Longford Estate which has been in the Radnor family for 300 years.
