Trade supplier to open 45 new stores by the end of the year


A South West-based trade supplier has revealed plans to open up to 45 new shops by the end of the year after a "very strong" 2014/15, a recent news report has been able to reveal.

Yeovil-headquartered Screwfix will open an average of 50 new stores per year as part of a UK-wide expansion, its chief executive, Andrew Livingston, has been able to reveal.

He added that it planned to open 45 more stores by the year end and was averaging about 50 new outlets per year.

In the annual results for its listed parent company Kingfisher, it was revealed that a further 200 Screwfix UK outlets could be opened, up from the current number of 412.

Total sales at the company grew on a like-for-like basis by 16.5 per cent to £494m, benefitting from strong digital and mobile growth, with 17 new stores opened.
