Up to 250 new jobs set to be created at North Dorset Business Park


Developing the North Dorset Business Park in Sturminster Newton into a fully serviced and development-ready business park is set to create no less than 250 new jobs, District council authorities have revealed.

According to a news report on the matter, the park is a joint venture between landowner Dorset County Council, the Homes and Communities Agency and North Dorset District Council. Initially, the site was acquired under the council’s economic development remit to promote it as an employment site, given the fact that work had been stalled for a number of years on the park while it was in private sector ownership.

The project has been awarded a £800,000 loan by Dorset LEP through the government’s Growing Places Fund and development works also include a brand-new high speed broadband connection.

Councillor Val Pothecary, North Dorset District Council portfolio holder for economy, said: "This business park has remained mostly undeveloped for 20 years. North Dorset District Council has worked with Sturminster Newton Town Council and SturQuest to bring the land into public ownership, bidding for the funds to put the infrastructure in, and keeping the local businesses engaged.”
