Wadebridge care village in north Cornwall gets the green light

Local authorities have granted planning permission for the development of a new a £15m ‘care village’ in Wadebridge, north Cornwall, that will feature 75 cottages and a 72-bedroom nursing home, a local news report was able to reveal.

The scheme will be built on a 9.37-acre site at West Hill and will replace Cornwall Care’s existing nursing home at St Breock. Up to 100 new jobs are set to be created as part of this project, in addition to the 40 employees who will transfer across from St Breock.

Cornwall Care chief executive Douglas Webb commented on the announcement: "We are delighted that outline planning consent has been given for our Wadebridge scheme which will raise the bar in terms of innovative modern care for older people in the county.

"Wadebridge ‘care village’ will be the first of its kind in Cornwall and the model for similar developments we would like to replicate in other key locations in the county.”
