The Liberal Democrat MP for Yeovil, David Laws, has asked for a meeting with chief executive of BAE Systems Ian King to discuss the scale of job losses in the town. There are proposals to cut 206 jobs from BAE Systems in Bristol and Somerset, and Mr Laws said these were “bad news”. He also commented: “This is a very important Yeovil business, with exactly the type of jobs we want to attract and retain in our area – high skills and good pay.”
